Cultivate Online

Cultivate!

Join me online starting Saturday, September 19th at 8 am PST, 9 am MT, 10 am CT, 11 am EST for 90 minutes, and every other week after for 7 sessions.

I am inviting you to ask yourself a couple of questions:

Is creativity important to me?

When was the last time I tapped into creativity?

These are questions that might get an “Of course!” kind of answer, or they might elicit something else like, “I don’t know.” or “I don’t have time.” or maybe even a shame spiral. Shame is never what a helper like me wants you to feel as you engage in supportive work, and it is likely inevitable. I feel so deeply that staying creative is what will get some of us through the current collapse we are experiencing. Environmental collapse. The collapse of the patriarchy. The collapse of economic systems. So let’s create a new way. I know many of you have already started this with your small businesses, shopping local, sharing funds with folks in community who are in need. There are so many ways through. Hit reply and tell me your paths in and through these times. Are you already able to stay creative, but you know someone who could use help along the way? Maybe I could be that person, and this group could be their answer.

A few days before the Fall equinox, “Cultivate,” the online group I want to fill with 10 curious humans, will begin. We will connect not only with our innate creativity, but with others. We will spend an hour and a half together working on creative projects in our own space via Zoom. You will find all the details of the group here: https://www.bridgetbertrand.com/cultivate, and you can register today, especially if we have worked together before: https://bit.ly/cultivate_creativity

Each group will start at 8 am PST and end at 9:30 am each week, on an every-other-week cadence. If we don't know each other, you can meet with me beforehand to make sure this is a fit. There will be seven sessions. You can sign up, receive a recording of the first 20 minutes, and get the email follow-ups if you can’t attend, though making time for all the sessions will offer the most benefit. This is a closed group (no folks added after we start. Everyone is welcome, no matter their experience with creativity. I will start with a group of quotes from books that I have found inspiring; we will engage in mindfulness, then I’ll give you a prompt to tap into.

Examples include drawing your happy place, scribbling with your non-dominant hand, creating an altar, creating a playlist, and more. Then you start your creative work. You will have 40 minutes to work on your own; this includes writing, moving, fine art, playing music, and even gardening. It’s up to you how you stay creative; I provide the container and guidance you provide the sprinkles. We end with a share-out of our process for about 30 minutes, with each person sharing each week briefly if they wish. I am a person-centered helper/healer, meaning you will never be asked to share if you don’t want to. You will never have your creations commented on. They are for you, for your process. Not sure if this is for you, but are you curious?

I am Bridget Bertrand (any pronouns), a queer parent with training in expressive arts practice, mindfulness, and embodied social justice. I grew up in the U.S. South, attended undergrad there, and got a degree in Theater Arts with a minor in Education. After graduation, I moved to New York City, where I taught theater in four of the five boroughs and did a little acting along the way.

After years of parent meetings that felt a lot like therapy, I turned to a career in psychology while raising a child. I am thrilled to offer expressive arts and mindfulness sessions WORLDWIDE. It is an honor to walk along with clients, and I hope to inspire folks to find their own unique path toward healing.

I have completed 150 hours of coursework centered on social justice at The Embody Lab and on mindfulness with the folks at MNDFL. All these courses are rooted in somatic healing. I am committed to creating mutual aid relationships with members of my community.
