This document lived on a Notion link that's been on my https://linktr.ee/bhopeb for five years, but I wanted it in a more visible spot on my website.
I have updated this statement as of 9/1/2026 with newer commitments and a more focused clarity about how vital it is for all of us, but especially those in Turtle Island (the United States), to pay attention to what is happening with the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the way our military is tied to Israel. Even as healers and helpers, coaches, doctors, nurses, tattooists, acupuncturists, folks in finance, etc., we can make a change. We can speak out on the atrocities that our government engages in. I don’t want my tax dollars funding war, period, let alone a genocide. Call me in, but to my knowledge, this is the only one we are directly funding, so it is the one I am speaking on and committing to fight against.
Here is my updated statement:
Bridget Bertrand is committed to building an equitable, anti-racist company. I have been taking steps to become an anti-racist company because I aspire to be a change agent against racism, white supremacy, or, as some are calling it, white narcissism. I want to be a part of a community of micro-businesses that prioritize justice, equity, and inclusion. I will always have work to do in order to get there. This document names some of that work.
In this document, “I” means Bridget Bertrand, the owner of the company Transformation Collective Space and Bridget’s private practice (a therapy practice).
I, Bridget Bertrand, as a white, gender queer dyke/lesbian, have white privilege and cisgender privilege (as I pass for cis mostly). I am able-bodied and have class and education privilege. I'm committed to taking action against a system that gives me unearned privilege. I move forward imperfectly. I continue to make mistakes. I will learn from those mistakes, and I am open to and grateful for feedback. I will meet feedback without defensiveness.
Here are some of the steps I have taken and will take:
Signed The Anti-Racism Small Business Pledge (pdf below) 6/10/20
Small-Business-Anti-Racist-Pledge
*Create a public document listing my company values, including a link to this action plan (complete)
I pay for and engage actively in education on anti-racism work. In addition to weekly listening and reading, I commit to investing money, time, and spirit in education and consultation at least quarterly. I am listing some of my educators/programs here.

I commit to open conflict and to allowing discomfort. When conflict arises in my life, in individual work, and within my programs, I let it arise. I don’t try to hide it, delete it, or ignore it and I do not protect hate speech. I acknowledge the conflict, allow space for community members to be heard, and deal with the underlying issue rather than demonize the community member who raised the issue. These conversations are happening regardless, and I allow them to happen in these spaces and participate in the conversations. I am willing to sit in the discomfort of being called out or in and take action to implement the needs expressed by community members. I state these community guidelines that acknowledge these things. (Most of the language in this bullet point comes directly from the Anti-Racism Pledge listed above).
Posted the above statement within groups - previously I have used this link of guidelines in my groups: https://eastbaymeditation.org/2017/05/agreements-for-multicultural-interactions/
I have included this language in the on-boarding of all future participants and clients as of 1/2/2021
I commit to paying for the resources I benefit from and receive from BIPOC educators. When I regularly absorb information from experts on JEDI and am not enrolled in their programs, I seek ways to pay for the help I’m receiving. I buy books, contribute to Patreon, or find other ways to invest.
I commit to investing 5% of the business’s budget in Global Majority - BIPOC communities via mutual aid by the end of 2022 or sooner. This includes hiring Black, Indigenous, and other folks from the Global Majority as employees, vendors, and contractors; using BIPOC-owned software and services; purchasing BIPOC-authored books; donating to organizations; and more. I am also queer-identified and queer-loving.
We report the percent annually. This part is incomplete as I am really working hard on numbers, taxes etc. I will update this soon. I can share ALL of my contracts are Global Majority folks! These folks are listed here along side other trusted Global Majority small businesses: https://bit.ly/queercommunity
Express my sincere, long-term commitment to becoming an anti-racist organization. I will create a permanent statement that illustrates my commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism that goes on all of my external-facing documents (website, job announcements, publications, contracts, etc). It will be written from a place of realistic language about where I am and also where this business is trying to go. It will outline specific steps that I am taking and will take to get there.
This is that document, it is a work in progress. Its first version was created on 6/10/20.
I include a link to this Anti-Racism Action Plan in all of my onboarding documentation https://www.bridgetbertrand.com/blog/bridget-bertrands-anti-racism-action-plan
I am committed to fighting for a Free Palestine. I listen and learn from the Principles of Unity for Healthcare Workers in Solidarity with Palestine. This text is a work in progress and I will be refining it more soon:
I stand against genocide in all forms, across time. On these lands where many of us live, the genocide of the Indigenous Peoples of the so-called “United States” has never been acknowledged in an adequate way. The harm this nation has inflicted on Indigenous, Black, Brown, Asian, and all Global Majority neighbors (BIPOC folks) is horrific and traumatic. The ongoing genocide in Gaza is a trauma we will all be processing for the rest of our lives. As a mental health provider, I believe we hold and work with this collective trauma every day. I want to stand arm in arm with all people. Especially fighting for the rights of BIPOC, Two-Spirit, trans, queer, lesbian, gay, pansexual, bisexual, intersex, and asexual humans.
I seek to partner with people who are addressing racism, sexism, transphobia, Islamophobia, anti-semitism, ableism, fatphobia, and all other forms of oppression. This will be a part of our therapy work and our creative work together. I want to engage you in conversations where we can work to heal the ruptures within our communities and support those who are suffering. I am open to your feedback.
In deep solidarity!

I am Bridget Bertrand (any pronouns), a queer parent with training in expressive arts practice, mindfulness, and embodied social justice. I grew up in the U.S. South, attended undergrad there, and got a degree in Theater Arts with a minor in Education. After graduation, I moved to New York City, where I taught theater in four of the five boroughs and did a little acting along the way.
After years of parent meetings that felt a lot like therapy, I turned to a career in psychology while raising a child. I am thrilled to offer expressive arts and mindfulness sessions WORLDWIDE. It is an honor to walk along with clients, and I hope to inspire folks to find their own unique path toward healing.
I have completed 150 hours of coursework centered on social justice at The Embody Lab and on mindfulness with the folks at MNDFL. All these courses are rooted in somatic healing. I am committed to creating mutual aid relationships with members of my community.
